Learn to Earn Program

Learn to Earn Program

The Learn to Earn Program is an innovative educational initiative by Urban Fresh Gardens, designed to equip high school students with hands-on skills and experience in sustainable agriculture and food systems. Through this program, we are cultivating the next generation of leaders in urban farming, food justice, and community wellness.

Program Overview

Learn to Earn is a year-round program that immerses students in all aspects of urban agriculture—from planting and harvesting to managing a farmers’ market and distributing fresh produce to local communities. Through mentorship and practical experience, participants gain valuable knowledge in sustainable practices, food sovereignty, and business skills that can open doors to future careers in agriculture, environmental science, and entrepreneurship.

Key Benefits

  • Skill Development: Students learn critical skills, including crop planning, soil health, and resource management, that align with sustainable farming practices.
  • Hands-On Experience: Participants work directly on our farm, gaining firsthand experience in food production, distribution, and market operations.
  • Community Impact: Students see their work directly benefit the community through food donations and local market sales, fostering a sense of purpose and community responsibility.
  • Career Pathways: By building foundational skills, students are prepared for potential careers in agriculture, food justice, and environmental stewardship. We provide support for students who wish to pursue further studies or work in these fields.

Get Involved

  • Students: Are you a high school student passionate about making a difference in your community? Apply today to join the Learn to Earn program, and take your first step toward a rewarding career in sustainable agriculture.
  • Community Members: We invite local businesses, nonprofits, and community members to support our students’ learning journeys. From mentorship opportunities to workshop facilitation, there are many ways to get involved.
  • Sponsors: Your support helps us provide resources and tools for our students, ensuring they gain meaningful skills and experiences. Sponsors can play a vital role in shaping the future of local agriculture and youth development.
